Alternate colours have been applied to create different parts of each leaf, casting a shadow that makes them appear to spring out of the cloth. The delicate white flower petals have found their place on the tea towel through the intricate process of ‘negative printing’, whereby the petals are block-printed onto the linen using wax, before the application of the green leaves and the yellow stigma through hand-printing. Following this, the wax is washed out of the fabric to leave behind the beautiful flower petal design.
