Each year new interior trends develop, but what about trends that have longevity? Moving away from replaceable and forgettable trends, we’re turning our attention to the looks that will be here to stay for many years to come.

Why Longevity in Interiors?

When we shift our mindset when it comes to consumption, we can clearly see the benefits in investing in high quality pieces that are made to last. If we approach styling our homes in the same way, we see a natural transition from ‘fast fashion’ and spending money on what’s ‘in’ at the time, to choosing pieces we truly love and value.

While new interior trends are exciting and it can be tempting to update your space regularly in line with what’s ‘in’, if we focus on the trends that can go beyond just a year or two, we can create a space that we will love for the long term. This in turn opens up the opportunity to choose quality over quantity, focusing on ‘less is more’ and styling our homes with pieces that we truly fall in love with.

  • Rich Colours

2025 is the year that we finally begin to move on from all white interiors. While white isn’t completely banished, more and more of us are choosing to style our homes with more colour. Rich shades can feel joyous, moody and even seductive. They can create a feeling of opulence, comfort and will add a depth that whites and creams simply can’t achieve.

From paint colours to fabrics and homeware, rich palettes are everywhere in 2025, but the good news is, this trend can be incorporated into your home in a way that’ll work for many years. Try earthy yellows, muted reds, terracotta pinks, burgundy and merlot, or forest green, all of which will add a richness and a feeling of comfort to your home. Embrace strong colour in a way that suits your own unique taste, and create a colourful space that you’ll love for the long-term.

  • Luxe Fabrics

Investing in quality fabrics will instantly elevate your home, adding an expensive look and feel. Fabrics are well worth spending that little bit more on, and 2025 sees a celebration of high quality soft furnishings around the home.

Upholstery is expected to be particularly popular this year, and when you choose timeless and premium fabrics, it will look fantastic for years to come. Think upholstered benches, window seats, stools and headboards. Upholstery allows us to add a softness, more colour and pattern to any space.

Of course luxe fabrics can be used in more than just upholstery. Try upgrading curtains, cushions, tablecloths and throws this year, choosing beautiful linen fabrics that you love and that will last for many years.

  • Colour Drenching

Colour drenching is the art of taking one single shade and using it heavily throughout a room. Think walls, ceilings and woodwork all painted in one colour, or matching wall colours with soft furnishings. Colour drenching as a look has longevity due to it’s simplicity. Unlike colour or pattern clashing, which might work now but will possibly date quickly, when you choose to use one strong colour within a room, the colour scheme will always work.

One shade that’s particularly popular this year is earthy yellow. Try painting walls and woodwork in this sunny but understated shade, adding in cushions and curtains to match.

  • Quality Over Quantity

Today, a maximalist look is more about strong colours, striking patterns and large pieces, instead of lots of small items filling shelves.

This year, focus on sourcing items that you truly love, opting for quality over quantity. Choose artisan-made, handmade, high quality materials, striking colours and unique patterns, over mass produced generic designs. As you go through this transition, you will see and feel a clear difference in your home. Each and every room will bring you joy, it will no longer feel overwhelming and filled with clutter, instead, it will look and feel valued and will very much feel like a space that’s made just for you.

  • Made-to-Measure

Freestanding storage is getting a downgrade this year, as we make way for more fitted and built-in furniture. When we choose built-in over freestanding, we can make more of the space that we have available. Fitting seamlessly into the architecture of our homes, built in cupboards and shelving, when done well, should look as if they have always been there.

Taking a ‘tailor-made’ approach to furnishing your home will add a high quality look and feel, and allow you to create both highly functioning furniture and a beautiful finish. In many instances, you might need to work with a skilled carpenter to achieve the look, but you can also be clever when it comes to adapting already existing pieces to suit your space.

You can take this look one step further, choosing to opt for bespoke and made-to-measure soft furnishings, such as curtains, bed linens and tablecloths too. If you love the ‘made-to-measure’ look, our bespoke home decor service will be a great asset.

2025 is set to be an exciting year in interiors, but this year, focus on making changes to your home that will stand the test of time.
