The beautiful rustic aesthetic of this rectangular ceramic baking dish is the result of one of the world’s most ancient ceramics techniques. Coiling (or colombino in Italian) involves layering up long strips of clay by hand to create the desired shape. And this shape is so desirable that you can place it directly from the oven onto the dinner table.
Because coiling is performed by hand, each item is entirely unique. And when something is lovingly handcrafted by a dedicated lifelong artisan, using such a wonderfully natural material as clay – the finished article couldn’t feel more authentic or more pleasing to use, admire and enjoy.
Established in 1954 by Gino Tapinassi, Ceramiche Tapinassi is today run by his sons, who from childhood absorbed his passion for handcrafted ceramics.
Variations in finish or appearance are not considered imperfections, but are the mark of a unique handmade item.
